Catholic Life and Mission
As a Catholic school, we play a key role in the faith formation of every child. A pupil's experience of the Catholic life of the school will undoubtedly influence their faith as an adult and so it is important we offer an experience that is truly outstanding.
From the moment your child joins St Wilfrid's, they will become active members of a Catholic community.
St Wilfrid’s Mission Statement states: ‘We strive to follow Christ’s example to always do our best’
We celebrate our faith not only during RE lessons and Collective Worship - Christ is at the centre of everything that we do.
We embrace and champion British Values and strive to live our lives through the example of Christ and through embracing Gospel Values and Virtues
Visitors to our school comment upon the ‘Welcoming ethos...’ and have told us that, ‘As soon as they arrive it feels like a place where they would like to be.’
As members of St Wilfrid's School, our pupils understand that they are called to a life of service and they have a commitment to this - they participate in all aspects of Catholic Life with enthusiasm and, not only this, take responsibility for shaping activities with a religious character too. They
- Fundraise for those in need locally, nationally and globally
- Contribute to harvest offerings
- Provide backpacks for those who are without a permanent home
- Lead Collective Worship
- Write Bidding Prayers for Mass
- Work as Lead Learners for peers who are struggling or to help children who are younger to learn new skills
- Carry out jobs in school in their own free time
- Welcome grandparents in at Christmas for lunch
- Sing for those in the local community
- Extend the hand of friendship to other schools
- Study other faiths and cultures with respect
- Voluntarily sing at school celebrations for peers receiving the Sacraments
